R APPLICATION IS ON .dashdog. PLEASE complete OUR application if you are interested in meeting our dogs or puppies! Without OUR application being completed, you WILL NOT be considered or receive any communication from us. Thank You! ***AND our listed dogs ARE READY IMMEDIATELY; we only meet with families WHO ARE READY TO ADOPT! IF YOU APPLY and WE APPROVE YOU it means we are assuming when you meet any of our dogs and fall in love you're ready to ADOPT AND TAKE HIM OR HER HOME! Finn is the beautiful, friendly, prototypical velcro-Aussie who cannot get enough petting and cuddling. His current owner is gone for regular work hours and though he loves Finn he wants a more attentive lifestyle for him. He also lives in an apartment and feels a home and yard to sniff and roam around would be Finn’s dream home. Although Finn is leash-trained and enjoys walks he’s not a running-partner. He likes to stop and sniff around so if you want a dog for exercise he may not be the best, but if you like to enjoy leisurely walks where you stop to smell the roses then Finn would love to take those walks with you! As previously stated Finn is a Velcro-dog; he is currently glued to his owner from the minute he comes home to the time he leaves; his owner acknowledges that if he was home more Finn would become more secure and less clingy - which is why we are helping to find him a new home. Finn loves his bone, tug of war ropes toys and his ball to play fetch. He also loves the herding ball outside. Finn is eager to please and knows several commands. He likes pets or treats as rewards for training and is always responsive when learning new commands. Finn isn’t a regular barker but in apartment life there are always other dogs, bikes, scooters, strollers and other overstimulating distractions. scooters, skateboards, and bikes. His only real anxiety is about storms and thunder which is very common for Aussies. He is not destructive just prefers his human to be with him or to be in his crate IF it’s left open as a safe-space. Finn is also very friendly. If a new person makes a noise in his direction he will place himself in front of them expecting to be petted. His owner says “the vets office loves having him when I have left him there for boarding during travel.” We are really looking for Finn to have a home where his humans are around most of the time; whether working from home or younger retirees he craves and deserves the attention. His personality is typical of most Aussies he’s just not yet had the kind of home that fits him. APPLICATION REQUIRED from .dashdog Adoption Fee $450 - the fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE and is not specific for any dog or puppy; it goes to the expenses of the organization as a whole* OUR APPLICATION IS ON .dashdog and must be completed in order to set up a meeting. Our listed dogs ARE READY IMMEDIATELY; we only meet with families WHO ARE READY TO ADOPT! IF YOU APPLY and if WE APPROVE YOU it means we are assuming when you meet any of our dogs and fall in love you're ready to ADOPT AND HIM OR HER HOME! General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $450 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city. We work hard to match EACH dog with the right family - kids or no kids, other dogs male or female and/or cats. With very rare exceptions all dogs over 6 months will be spayed or neutered PRIOR to adoption - dogs under 6 months will include a spay/neuter date AND referral info for lower-cost surgery if the adopter does not choose to use her or his personal vet. OUR VETS WILL NOT PERFORM SPAY NEUTER SURGERIES UNTIL DOG IS 6 MONTHS OLD. Please READ ALL of our info below BEFORE SENDING APPLICATION. Our goal is to help our puppies and dogs find FOREVER HOMES AND FAMILIES, NOT TO MAKE IT PROHIBITIVE FOR YOU TO ADOPT. However, once we review the application and contact you, we MEET TO ADOPT, so please let us know if you are ONLY APPLYING TO STAY ON FILE or THAT YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT, for the consideration of our puppies and dogs and families who know the time is right! 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
