Adoption Application. If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application. Meet Goliath! Goliath is an adorable "super mutt" rescued from Baja Mexico. Sadly, there are 8 of these babies whom we need to find families for. It is a travesty when pet owners choose not to sterilize their pets. We do not know much about the background of the father(s) or the breed(s) since the mother dog had access to run free outside of their property. We estimate that these cuties may grow to be a large or extra large breed size. Goliath looks like an Anatolian Shepherd, yet his siblings all look different. Goliath is one of the "middle siblings" in terms of size. The smallest are in the mid 20 pound range and some are in the mid 30 pound range. As of late May, Goliath is 35 pounds and we think he will likely be a large or extra large breed. He may reach 80-100 pounds when full grown. If you are looking for a large sized breed, please continue to read about him. Goliath is a handsome goofball, who is happy-go-lucky with a loving and friendly personality to all people, other dogs, and even the cats he meets. He loves the water and you can actually find him cooling off by the water bowl after a good romp around with his dog friends. He is in the "chewing" puppy era, which means anything on the ground is fair game. Benebones and chew toys are your friends. He is crate trained and sleeps well through the night. He takes a few naps throughout the day in his crate after being tired out and needing a break for an hour or two. He WILL let you know when his hour or two are UP and that he wants to come out and play. Therefore, his adopter must have a work schedule that is conducive to having a new pup into the home. He is NOT house trained, so adopters must have done research about potty training and have the patience and time for it. Goliath WILL pee lakes like all large puppies. He likes to drink water and being he is a young pup, he can't hold it just yet. His adopter must understand that at this point he will pee OFTEN and they must be prepared to clean up after him until he is potty trained. His adopter must be patient and not get angry or stressed as he learns. A home with a floor versus a carpet would be best during this puppy stage and a bucket and mop will be your friend! He loves all the dogs he has met and currently his BFFs are Teddy, Rusty, Toby, Uma and Gremlin. He may be a large to extra large breed, but he is pretty active as all pups are. He loves to run around the yard with the other foster dogs at Casa de ARWOB. Goliath is a healthy and fully vaccinated pup. He is scheduled to be neutered on 6/3/25 in the 92104 zip code. Therefore, we are only considering local San Diego adopters until he has been neutered. We will consider adopters outside of the San Diego area after his sterilization surgery has been done. We would love to find an adopter who intends to take dog training seriously and will enroll him in group puppy training classes. This will ensure that this handsome, good hearted pup continues to grow into an amazing adult dog! Please note that he is a pretty quiet dog, but when he does vocalize, he has a BIG bark. Therefore, anyone living in an apartment setting should be warned if this would be a problem. If you are ready for a pup like this handsome boy, please submit an application and we will schedule a phone call and hopefully move forward to schedule a meet and greet. If you are interested in this cute guy, please submit an online application TODAY! .arwob If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
