dle of joy, snuggles, and energy. I’m a beautiful orange-and-white Brittany who’s spayed, housebroken, crate trained, up to date on all my vaccines, heartworm & tick negative, and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. I’m playful, snuggly, and oh-so-sweet. My favorite things include playing chase with my foster sister, Macie, playing with all types of dog toys, hanging out with the grandkids, and curling up in my foster dad’s recliner for the best naps ever. At night, I nestle right between my foster parents’ pillows, making sure I can touch both of them while I dream. That’s how much I love being close to my people. I know some basic commands and love showing off how smart I am! I have one little extra need: I was born with Canine Megaesophagus. Don’t let that big word scare you—it just means I eat a little differently. I sit upright in a special chair (called the Bailey Chair, which comes with me!) to enjoy my meals, I sit in my special chair to eat, and for about 25 minutes after I eat, to allow my food to get to my stomach. Don’t let any of these things scare your from adopting me. It’s part of my routine now, and I’m really good at it. My foster parents will happily show you how easy it is, because with this small bit of care, I live a happy, healthy, love-filled life. ✨ What I’m Looking For: A home full of love, patience, and snuggles. A family who’s willing to help me manage my simple mealtime needs. Maybe even some kids or a doggie sibling to play with. I may be a little unique, but the love and joy I bring will fill your heart in ways you never imagined. I’m Oakley Rose, and I’m ready to bloom in the heart of my forever family. Medical Note: Oakley has her very own Bailey Chair, which will come with her. Her Foster Parents will discuss everything with you in detail. They will walk you through her feeding process and will be there for any questions you might have. Oakley is precious and is used to her eating routine that makes her stay healthy. She is an amazing girl. Adoption Details – Could Oakley Rose Be Your Happily Ever After? The adoption fee for MO/Oakley Rose, currently fostered in Nixa, MO, is $400. This helps cover her vetting and care, allowing NBRAN to rescue and save even more precious Brittanys just like her. If you feel this sweet girl tugging at your heartstrings, please take the first step toward making her part of your forever family by completing our online adoption application at .nbran. Once submitted, kindly let your state coordinator know so they can start processing your adoption application. Let your vet know that someone from NBRAN will be calling for your vet check, and then there will be a home visit. You can also email Melinde Waddle, Oakley Rose’s coordinator, at macgammygmail to let the Region with Oakley Rose know you are interested. Once you’re approved, you’ll have the chance to speak with Oakley Rose’s loving foster family and hear firsthand all about this wonderful girl waiting to find her home. Transport can be arranged up to 1,400 miles, with adopters responsible for the last 100 miles of travel — making it easier than ever for this special Brittany to find her way into your arms and heart.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
