A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Date into Rescue: 03/28/2025
Reason for being in rescue: Chip was abandoned at a dog training facility. The facility reached out to CPR for help, and we happily said yes.
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Chip is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 04/02/25 Chip had a dental. He does have some molars that will ultimately have to be removed; our veterinarian did not recommend removal at this time. Chip was tested for Cushing's Disease and was negative. Full medical records will be provided. Note that Chip can be a little nervous at the vet. His medical records (which will be provided) indicate this. Who can blame him - it smells funny and they always want to poke you!

What kind of home would be best for me? Meet Chip – The Senior Sweetheart Who Wants All Your Love & Attention! At 12, Chip is the kind of guy who will shower you with affection and follow you around, just to make sure you know he’s always there, ready for a cuddle, a belly rub, or a lap to snuggle on.
Chip may be a little older, but he’s still got plenty of love to give. His one true wish is to be your loyal companion, the dog who is by your side, every step of the way. He’ll follow you from room to room, give you soulful, “please love me” eyes, and then settle in for some well-deserved attention. He’s a true people dog—Chip thrives when he’s the focus of your world, and he’ll make you feel like you’re the most important person in the room. He gets along wonderfully with his calm canine friends, big and small, and enjoys having company to share his adventures with. Whether they’re lounging together in the yard, or sleeping on the stair, Chip is always happy to have a doggy companion to spend time with. Chip however is not a playmate; he is an older brother. Chip is happy to be an only dog but if another dog is in his life his companion needs to understand he is older. Chip does not want to be stepped on and bumped into.
Now, while Chip’s heart is as big as his personality, he does have a few quirks. He’s not the biggest fan of trips to the vet and has a bit of a struggle with grooming—he’d rather just skip all that and head straight to his favorite spot on the couch for a nap. Chip would do best in a patient home where his humans are understanding and can help him feel safe when it comes to vet visits and grooming.
Chip would thrive in a calm, quiet home where someone is around most—or ideally all—of the day. Whether you’re a single person, a couple, or a family with older children (10+), Chip will fit right in, as long as he gets lots of quality time with his humans. His perfect match might be a retiree or retired couple who want a loving, laid-back dog to share their days with.
What is my personality like? Chip once had a home of his own, and he deeply misses it. Sadly, his previous owner had to enter a rehab facility and could no longer care for him, so Chip was brought to a dog rehabilitation center. From there, he came to us—and we’ve been giving this gentle old guy the best care we can. Still, nothing compares to having a home and a person of his own. Chip is used to one-on-one attention and being someone’s constant companion. While we adore him, we simply can’t give him the undivided time he craves due to the number of dogs in our care.
Chip is a gentle, affectionate soul. He gets along well with other small dogs and dog-savvy cats. He’s a quiet presence who just wants to love and be loved. He walks on a leash but could use a little refresher training. While he may be set in his ways, this old dog might surprise you—he responds well to gentle encouragement, tasty treats, and lots of praise.
Chip isn’t very active and would be happiest with short walks and a fenced yard where he can safely sniff and explore. But truly, his favorite place to be is right next to you—on the couch or, ideally, in your lap. That’s his version of heaven. Though he’s content staying home while you’re out, he’d be thrilled to accompany you on errands or café trips. He’s small enough to come along on most outings, and he’ll always hope for a treat or a pup cup to top off the adventure!
How do I act when I first meet new people? Chip is happy to meet new people but at his age he doesn’t get overly excited. He does enjoy being in your lap and being petted.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
