r life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 5/20/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray and landed at a NC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? French Toast is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 05/21/25 he had a dental polishing. Weight: 9 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Meet French Toast a young spirited estimated six-year-old Shih Tzu mix. French Toast, aka Frenchie, has settled in well here at the farm and we know he will settle into your home in no time. There are some very specific things French Toast is looking for in his new home. Firstly, a standalone home, Frenchie loves you. A lot. So much so he cries the song of his people when he cannot be near you, even if you are home. He will be your second shadow. Second, Frenchie has also shown to not be a huge fan of a crate. We believe he correlates it to poor experiences, thusly we have seen some minor reactivity from him when in a crate. Good thing he doesn't need one! Outside of a crate Frenchie is the sweetest and most loving boy. For this reason, Frenchie will need older humans in his life. 15+ is ideal in Frenchie's world. Frenchie would do well in a home with or without other pets. He enjoys their company but in truth he just wants you. Frenchie does not need another dog in the home but he would love play dates or doggy day care! Another dog in the home is just a plus in his books. What is my personality like? Frenchie is a loving and sweet boy with classic shih tzu sass (peep his photo shoot). He loves attention and soaks it up like the sun. He is the perfect amount of lively and chill. If you are looking for a dog to spicy up your life but also chill and just spend some time on the couch Frenchie is your guy! We have no idea what life was for Frenchie before he was found wandering the streets. He definitely has his opinions (true to his breed!) and isn't afraid to let you know. Laps and cuddles are a must - he demands them. House training is a definite work in progress - you are going to want belly bands in the early days. Crates are an absolute no - Frenchie has some serious issues with a crate. As long as you meet his demands, he's the perfect king. Frenchie enjoys life the way it comes and loves playing with his dog friends. YOU will be the center of his world. If you're looking for a velcro boy that will give you his heart, tell you what he doesn't like, and dominate your lap and bed, Frenchie would love to be your boy. How do I act when I first meet new people? Frenchie does not meet a stranger and loves every adult he meets. He is extremely friendly and will simply ask for love and pets. Frenchie will run up to you for pets and love, he will jump with joy when he sees you! Other tips and tidbits: Frenchie was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 6 years young. We celebrate his birthday on January 23, 2019! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
