ne. He’s around 1.5 years old, house and crate trained, and full of hilarious quirks that’ll keep you laughing—like hiding his toys in couch cushions, drinking straight from the faucet (or toilet if he can beat you to it), and chatting up a storm when he wants attention, food, or just to tell you how his day’s going.
Peeta is smart and very trainable—he knows sit, down, shake, treat, and crate, and responds well to correction. He’s muzzle trained and doesn’t fight when it’s time to put it on, which is helpful as he continues to work through some of his fears. He can get nervous with new people, especially men, and sometimes reacts without much warning. He’s also sensitive about doorways, prolonged eye contact, and gets a little worked up when people walk by the car. He’s not aggressive at heart, but he does need someone experienced who understands how to manage and support a dog with fear-based reactivity.
With dogs, Peeta is figuring things out. He loves to play chase with his current foster sister, a younger female Dane, but he prefers calmer dogs and doesn’t enjoy rough wrestling or high-energy chaos. He could potentially live with another respectful, relaxed dog—but would also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as your one and only. Cats are unknown, and he’s not a good fit for a home with children due to his unpredictability and reactivity.
Despite his quirks, Peeta is incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than flopping across you on the couch for a snuggle session. His version of “cuddling” is full-body contact and zero personal space, and he’ll happily hang out with you watching TV, playing with toys, or just being near his person.
He’s got moderate energy—he loves to play but also knows when to settle down. Leash walks are a work in progress (he’s strong!), but he’s learning. He also has some mild skin issues that are improving with proper care and attention.
Peeta is looking for a calm, consistent home without a lot of hustle and bustle. He’ll need someone patient, experienced, and willing to work with him through slow introductions, structure, and boundaries. In return, he’ll give you loyalty, laughter, and love—with a few extra sound effects along the way.
If you’re ready to meet a dog with personality, smarts, and a whole lot of potential, Peeta’s waiting for you.
