your heart and a spirit that will leave a lasting impression. This sweet boy was rescued after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest—an unthinkable start to life for such a loving soul. But thanks to incredible care and his own quiet strength, Curry has made a full recovery and is now searching for a forever home where he can continue to bloom. Despite his rough beginnings, Curry has grown into a gentle, affectionate giant who just wants to be close to his people. He thrives on companionship, often leaning in for a hug or curling up beside you for some well-earned snuggles. He’s especially fond of children and currently lives with five kids ranging from toddler age to teenagers. Curry is calm, patient, and happy to share cuddles with every member of the family. Curry is house-trained, kennel-trained, and rides calmly in the car. He does well in his crate when left alone, though he'd much rather be where the action is. He’s still got a playful streak and enjoys romping around with the two other Great Danes he currently lives with. A home with another dog is highly recommended, as Curry lights up when he has a canine buddy to play and lounge with. He’s still a little timid at times, especially around new people or unfamiliar situations, but his confidence has grown immensely. Curry gets along well with both men and women now, though he needed a little time to warm up to his foster dad. He's shown nothing but love to the vet and staff, soaking up attention wherever he goes. Outdoors, Curry is in his element—whether he’s exploring the yard or lying in the sun, he enjoys the fresh air and open space. He’s known to dig and chew on the occasional item, but he responds well to gentle redirection. Inside, he can be a bit of a goofball, sneakily swiping stuffed animals, papers, or cords if left unattended. Like any young dog, he’ll do best with supervision, patience, and continued guidance. Leash walks are a bit of a negotiation—he sometimes prefers to set his own pace, especially when heading to the vet. But Curry’s progress has been steady, and with time and trust, he’ll continue to improve. Curry is still gaining weight and tends to eat slowly. He prefers his kibble with a bit of canned food mixed in, and he likes to graze rather than gulp. He may always be on the leaner side, but his appetite is healthy and he’s making good progress. This brave, beautiful boy has come so far. What he needs now is a home full of love, consistency, and companionship—ideally with another dog and humans who enjoy having a big shadow follow them around. Curry has proven that even the deepest wounds can heal with kindness, and in return, he offers unwavering loyalty, boundless love, and the gentlest of hugs. If you're ready to welcome a survivor with a heart of gold into your home, Curry is ready to meet you. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
