nce and she has something to say, LOL! She is all of 48lbs but she thinks she is the boss. She loves to play with her resident foster brother all day and can wear him out quite good. She is just a pup and so she has limitless amounts of energy and is learning boundaries, new trainings everyday and is getting socialization that seemed to be pretty limited to her previously. Sasha does bark when she sees new people, new environments and learning how to act properly when she is introduced to all these new things in life. She is extremely bright, wants to please and has a willingness to learn. Her foster has horses and Sasha did not know what to think of those really big creatures at first but now she can walk past them and is becoming pretty tolerant and comfortable among them. She is learning basic obedience commands, rides in the car great and just lays down. She is crate trained and settles in nicely and self soothes and is good with some hard chews to occupy her time. She is still so young and should not be trusted to be left out unattended for she tends to wander about and starts to get into stuff. Much safer for her to be kenneled. Foster has not experienced how she is with small children but she has been around teenagers and she was good. Has had some cat exposure and was not really paying attention to the cat. She is a goofy girl and just wants to be with her humans. She singles and whines when she has to go potty and she does a funny little thing where is she feels she is wanting a treat she will lay down in front of you and cross her paws and is almost like saying "I'll take my treat now" LOL! Sasha is a very sweet, sassy and cute little gal. This fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog. Please read all adoption steps and policies carefully on our website. dobermanrescueminnesota/adoption-steps/ Qualified adopters are within the approved adoption area, and Adopter will be requested to visit this foster dog at the foster family home. Our foster families are generally located within a 250 mile radius of Minneapolis, MN. All DRM dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, health checked, microchipped, 4DX tested, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
