one-of-a-kind dog looking for a loving, active, and dog-savvy human to call his own. If you're an experienced dog owner who enjoys outdoor adventures and has a calm, positive approach to training, Gus just might be your perfect match. He’s a smart, energetic dog with a heart full of loyalty, and he's ready to build a strong bond with the right person.
Gus’ Ideal Home
Gus prefers to be the center of attention—he's the "only child" type! He does best in a home without children or other pets, although he’s been making great strides at his current doggy daycare, where he’s learning how to interact with other dogs. With supervision, Gus is okay around neutered and spayed dogs and is slowly learning to thrive in a more social environment. He is not the right fit if you live in a small apartment. A yard is a must for this big guy
Smart & Eager to Learn
Gus is incredibly intelligent and has a solid grasp of basic commands like sit , down , and stay/wait . He’s currently perfecting his leash manners, and with consistent, positive reinforcement, he’s quickly becoming a gentleman on walks. Gus thrives in a calm, structured environment and responds best to patience, praise, and gentle guidance. Harsh reprimands or rough handling can cause him to shut down—he’s sensitive and has likely experienced some rough moments in his past.
Playtime & Affection
If you’re looking for a dog who will be your playmate and your cuddle buddy, Gus is your guy! He absolutely loves playing fetch and will bring the ball back to you over and over again until he’s worn out. Belly rubs are his ultimate weakness—he’ll flop over at the first sign of affection, hoping for those sweet, soothing belly rubs. Gus is an affectionate dog who loves being around his person, and he’ll quickly become your devoted companion.
A Bit of Gus’ Past
Gus was found as a stray in Georgia, running with a pack of other dogs. He was “intact” at the time and had been living a hard life on the streets. Gus carries a few scars and has some BB pellets lodged in his body, but they don't cause him any pain. It’s likely that Gus has experienced some rough treatment in his past, which is why he can be sensitive to strong corrections. With the right care and love, he’s blossoming into a fantastic, loving dog.
In Summary
Gus is a loyal, intelligent, and affectionate dog who thrives in the right environment. He’d love to be your one and only furry companion and is looking for someone who can provide the patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement he needs to feel safe and loved. If you’re an active, experienced dog owner with a heart full of compassion, Gus could be your new best friend. Ready to meet this incredible dog? Gus is waiting for you to give him the forever home he deserves.
