pplication so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) . Meet Buddy – Your New Best Friend in a Tiny Package! At 12 years young, Buddy is blossoming in his foster home and winning hearts with his sweet, easygoing nature. This adorable 10-pound black beauty—with his irresistible underbite—is all about love, cuddles, and belly rubs. In fact, if belly rubs were a sport, Buddy would be a gold medalist. He’s a shadow to his fosters, following them from room to room and keeping a close eye on all the action. He’s known to break out into joyful zoomies when the excitement is just too much—usually when his people come home or when it’s mealtime (his two favorite events of the day!). A certified snack hound, Buddy will do just about anything for a treat—Zuke’s training treats and American cheese top his list. While he’s a pro couch potato, Buddy also enjoys daily walks and gets excited to explore and sniff around the neighborhood. He’s learning to “heel” on leash and is already working on several commands, including “come,” “stay,” “off,” and “leave it” (because, well, bunnies). He responds well to structure, is food- and love-motivated, and is getting the hang of gentle treat-taking. Although he's not a big fan of his crate, Buddy is almost fully housetrained and continues to make great progress. He would thrive in a calm, loving home where he can be the only pet and soak up all the attention. With continued training, regular walks, and lots of snuggles, Buddy will be the most devoted and delightful companion you could ever hope for. Ready to give this sweet senior his forever home? Buddy can’t wait to meet you! If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $100. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please email dogsarrcolorado for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: arrcolorado/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
