uper grateful that they are going to help me find a great home with a loving family of my very own! I was in a temporary home for 2 weeks and seemed to be allergic to something in the home, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts, ready to meet my furever family soon! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I did best with a mellow male dog. I’m a bit uncertain how to play with them, but I think I’ll learn. If you have a mellow male or female dog at home already, let’s meet! I should be fed separately as I will eat other dogs’ food and some dogs won’t appreciate that. / Cats unknown. / I met a nice boy and girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and liked them, although I was a bit nervous when they ran and in my temp. home, I was playfully mouthy. So, if you have kids at home 10 or older, let’s meet. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am as lovable as I am cute, with a sweet, playful, cuddly and energetic spirit you are sure to love! I’m looking for a good leader as I can be a bit playfully mouthy for attention and at times choose to obey or be mischievous, as dogs can do. I may have been fed human food in my former home as I sure did want to eat it in my temp. home, sometimes being a bit pushy about it. I made a great impression during my photo session and became the photographer’s new favorite (shhh … don’t tell the others). I’ve got that fun young dog energy that will make me a great companion for my new family. / My energy level is 5-7 with bursts of higher energy, so I think I’d like some regular exercise. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I am learning lots of great commands with my trainer. I have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘drop it’ commands, as well as using proper door etiquette. I’ll also give you my paw and I look forward to learning more. Though I haven’t fully mastered my leash walking, several folks have reported that it’s coming along very nicely. I do however like to chase little critters, so keep a good hold of my leash in case I see one. My temp. family reported that I did bolt through doors and gates, but that is one of the things my trainer taught me not to do – so I’ll want a good leader that keeps me on my toes with my commands. They also said that I was a bit possessive of food, toys and treats – but I have not shown that behavior at Mostly Mutts at all. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and were great in my temp. home, though they did leave a potty pad in it as I couldn’t hold it overnight or while they were gone for 7 hours. / I've been having some accidents on the shelter schedule and had some in my temp. home. Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I really love people and enjoy all the fun that comes with being around them. Toys come in a close second, especially the stuffed ones, and bones. I love to have great play sessions and enjoy fetch, and I’ll drop the ball in exchange for a belly rub – lol. In my temp. home, they reported that I did like to chew on some pillows and blankets – oops, sorry about that. I like giving kisses, going for car rides and laps, too. / Other than those noisy motorcycles that startle me on my walks, I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. I am looking for a great furever family who will love me always! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
