expected death. Thad has seen all of his rescue friends get adopted and yet he continues to wait patiently with a tail that keeps on wagging hopefully. Yet sadly no one seems to come that has a loving home for him. Thaddeus will be 8 years old in October and we’re hoping someone out there can give him the best birthday gift ever….a forever loving home of his own! Thad is a 55 pound Husky that is a very chill happy boy! He loves his walks, lots of cozy naps, and human affection once he knows you. Being a bit on the older side he has a few things he is not a fan of….young energetic dogs in his face or sharing his food and bones. This is such an easy remedy of feeding him in his crate which he doesn’t mind and he actually prefers his space. This sweet easy guy would be happy as an only dog or with another low energy dog that will stay out of his face and away from his food. I, his foster, feel the exact same way when I’m trying to eat lol! In fact, there are so many people that only want to own one dog, so why not Thad we are all wondering with his happy go lucky amazing qualities!? Thad is very easy going. He loves car rides and his people, including older children! With a smile on his sweet little baby face he enjoys watching life out a car window as he feels the breeze in his face. If the window is up, no problem. He’s smart enough to just adjust himself to be in front of the air vent. He is just so easy to please! He also loves walks or wandering around the fenced in backyard, which is enough for this low energy guy. Currently he enjoys exploring and sniffing leisurely in the yard with his senior Beagle friend, who like Thad, minds his own business. They will both adorably then put themselves down for a long nap. Thad is potty and crate trained, and knows several commands. He will come with his blanket, crate, several months of his senior food, and his favorite bones. We know there is a loving soul out there that has room in their heart for our gentle loving Thaddeus. He is guaranteed to brighten your day and add pure joy to your heart. Bonus: he is the perfect age to adopt as he will be content with low exercise and does not have a demanding temperament. He’s ready to fall in love again and into your arms! If you feel you could love him as much as we do, please fill out an adoption application at .HavenAnimalRescueNebraska ADOPTION DONATION: $225 *MUST be an inside companion dog only and trained only with positive reward-based methods. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
