Shepherd | Weight: 90 lbs Neutered: Yes | Adoption Fee: $375 This sweet senior gentleman is looking for a loving home to spend his golden years—and if you’re searching for a loyal, gentle companion with a big heart and even bigger personality, he may be your perfect match! He’s potty-trained, wonderful with other dogs, cats, and children of all ages (including babies!), and is happiest just being near his people. While he’s a big boy and carrying a bit of extra weight, he’s on portioned meals and doing his best to slim down—though he's known to sneak snacks if others aren’t watching (he’s a smart one!). He can handle stairs, though they can be a bit challenging at times, and he’s definitely a talker ! His charming barks are just part of his expressive personality—he has a lot to say and loves to "chat" with his family. This good boy has been living with a loving foster family for nearly two years after being left in their care by a former owner who never returned. He’s been incredibly kind and patient in a busy household with kids, dogs, and cats, but he’s ready for a forever home of his own—ideally a calm, cozy space where he can enjoy his well-earned rest and be surrounded by love. If you have space in your heart (and maybe on your couch) for a sweet, senior shepherd who will reward you with unwavering loyalty, gentle companionship, and a few happy barks, this big boy is ready to love you for the rest of his days . Apply today and give this handsome senior the forever family he’s been patiently waiting for. ❤️ As a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us. Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.) Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine. $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal. Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. We apologize for the inconvenience. We do not adopt animals to families whose current pets are not up-to-date on vaccinations or not altered. Exceptions may be made for medical reasons as stated by a veterinarian and we will require proof of that recommendation. Thank you for understanding our mission to reduce overpopulation. Once you submit your application, our adoption manager will be in touch, so please check your spam folder if you do not see something from us within 7-10 days. Thank you again for your interest in a Grey Face senior. We appreciate your support!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
