in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.
Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

What kind of home would be best for me? Stoney is an active, young dog. He is looking for a young, active family. Stoney's ideal home has another dog in it. Puppies especially need LOTS of play and socialization. If you don't have another dog, you MUST have a plan for regular (4-5 days/week) play and socialization of at least an hour with another young dog. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANOTHER ACTIVE DOG IN YOUR HOME, PLEASE DESCRIBE IN YOUR ADOPTION APPLICATION YOUR PLAN FOR PLAY AND SOCIALIZATION WITH A NEW PUPPY.
Stoney was rescued from a puppy mill. All he's ever known if life in a cage with too small quarters. Stoney will be a great family pet. He'd love a home with kids. He's never been around cats, but is young and can be trained to be respectful. A person scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and can provide multiple potty breaks throughout the day and night is a must. Stoney is a baby and needs play breaks as well as frequent and consistent potty times to aid in potty training.
What is my personality like? Stoney is an energetic little wallflower with a soul full of sunshine. He's cautious, cuddly and clearly plotting to steal your heart. He can be a bit shy at first, but once he trusts you, get ready for all of the serious tail wags and sneaky kisses. Stoney loves to play in his water bowl and go frolicking in the mud occasionally! He's still slightly confused by hardwood floors. He is still finding his footing in the world but would love to take the first step with you!
PUPPY POLICY:
Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog.
Our ideal puppy adopters are:
-experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets
-scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home
-stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc)
How do I act when I first meet new people? Don't expect Stoney to run up to you. This boy prefers to stand back and take it all in. Bring another dog and he'll jump right in for play.
Other tips and tidbits: Stoney was estimated at 4 months old when he was taken into rescue. We celebrate his birthday 02/04/2025.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.
To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.
Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
Thank you for considering CPR.
