ts with another puppy friend and have been having a blast in my foster home, learning and playing and now it’s time for me to find a family of my very own to raise me up! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I love the other puppy that I came in with as well as the adult dogs in my foster home! I’ve been playful but respectful of them, and back off when they correct me. / I haven’t met kitties yet, but I’m very young so I’d likely do well with them if they like puppies. / I’ve done well with the kids in my foster home that are around 10 - 12 years old, so if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me as I’m pretty small and am still in the normal puppy mouthy stage. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My foster reports that I have a sweet temperament and a very social nature! They also say that I’m spunky, people-oriented, curious and always enjoy being close to my people. / Energy level: My current energy level is 5-7, of course this could change as I grow up. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy – so get ready for some training with your new best friend. I’m eager to please and seem to learn quickly through my foster family’s routine, so I think I’ll do well with training. / You can crate train me. / I’m at the very beginning of my potty training and am at the perfect age to start my outside training in our yard! Stay close to me though as I’m small and the birds of prey may take interest in me. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love people, exploring new spaces and places, playing and having fun and I’m sure we’ll discover lots of things that we will love doing together! / I can’t think of things I don’t like yet since I’m so young, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and neutered. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
