Mutt Dogs For Adoption in Imlay City, MI, USA

Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Meet Venus! This gorgeous Belgian Malinois isn’t your typical “Velcro dog,” but don’t be fooled—she absolutely

enjoys being around her humans (especially if they come with a Chuckit ball in hand!). Venus has the perfect mix of fun and chill. She lives for her Chuckit balls (sponsorship, anyone?), and although she hasn’t destroyed one yet, she’s definitely stashed a few under the couch. Tug-of-war? Nope—her favorite game is stealing toys from her brother and hoarding them on her bed like treasure. When she’s not busy bossing her toys around or splashing in the pool (baths, not so much), she’s likely curled up inside catching some serious ZZZs—her second favorite hobby in life. Outdoor time is great, but a cozy nap inside? Even better. Venus is learning the ropes of house life beautifully. She’s picking up on polite door manners (no rushing!), sits nicely, and is starting to practice waiting for a release before going in or out. She’s not overly destructive, though she has claimed one small corner of the couch—fair trade for all the love she gives, right? She walks well on leash, is getting started with formal manners training, and has shown she’s eager to learn. Thunder and fireworks? She’ll bark back but isn’t scared. New dog friends? She just needs a proper intro and she’s golden. She even adores the cat—though he’s more into solo parkour than playdates. Her biggest current challenge is being alone in a crate—it causes some anxious (and loud!) protest. No destruction, just dramatic monologues. With time and patience, she’ll learn she’s safe and secure. Venus has a lot of potential, a heart full of spunk, and a nose made for adventure. If you’re ready to give her purpose with some fun jogs, sniffy walks, or nose work—she’s ready to be your loyal companion. Chuckit balls, cuddles, and quiet naps included. ‍Cosmic Welcome‍ Introducing #Madlovevenus and #madlovemars both located in Texas These stellar siblings made their way to the shelter this week and the MAD pack came together to bring them to the rescue! We are an official 501C3 organziation that does not have a physical location. Our home address is in Michigan, however, the majority of our dogs are not located in Michigan. If the pet of interest is farther than 750 miles, MAD will provide up to 350 miles of transport assistance and the adopter will need to arrange or drive the balance of the distance. Any additional miles must be covered by the applicant. The information that we have available is in our posting. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
