length coat that will cause you to deal with shedding. Her color of tan is on the red side and then those eyes - WOWZA! Fanny came to us as a stray through a nearby dog control officer after no owner was found. Fanny is so sweet tempered and has a bit of comical quirkiness which surely comes from her Husky side. She is very human motivated yet does wonderful with the other dogs. We are experiencing some food protection with the other dogs, but it is manageable and will hopefully dissipate as she realizes she will never go hungry again. Fanny rides fine in a car. It seems she's not been on leash much and not sure what to do so she doesn't think she can move - there is that funny Husky personality again. Fortunately, she has not ever had pups even though she was not spayed upon arrival and at the vet's office there was an, off leash, spicey Jack Russell that wanted to kick her butt and she just wanted to get away from it! She is a super nice young lady that may be a bit of a diamond in the ruff, but it won't take long for her to become a fantastic canine companion. Oh, one more thing we learned is that she does have the ability to get over a 6' enclosure but we quickly learned it was only because she wanted to get to us humans and never to run off. So, if you are owners who enjoy leaving your dog in the fenced back yard and drive away she is not for you. Fanny is her name! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_550.00__. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY. Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
