as big as his name. Born with Microphthalmia, a condition that affected the development of his eyes, Beau eventually needed to have them removed due to chronic infections and discomfort. But don’t let his blindness fool you. This boy is full of life, spirit, and surprising amounts of sass.
Now healed and adjusting well, Beau is looking for a forever home that will help him continue to navigate the world with patience and love. Because his world is always dark, new places and faces can be scary. But once he feels safe, his vibrant personality starts to shine. His joy for life is contagious! He’s potty trained, crate trained, and a perfect gentleman on the leash with no pulling. Walks can be cautious at first, but once he learns the route, his confidence grows with each step.
Beau is an intelligent, eager-to-learn boy who thrives on routine, positive reinforcement, and yummy treats. He has already mastered “sit,” “get in your house” (crate), “feet on the floor,” and even backyard fetch. You read that right, fetch! Blindness hasn’t slowed him down one bit. He’s currently working on “leave it” and enjoys mental stimulation like puzzles and snuffle mats. And if you happen to have a hose, a pool, or even just a good stick? Well, now you’re really speaking Beau’s love language! He is obsessed with playing in the water & collecting sticks!
He’s still learning how to trust people and can be hesitant when meeting new ones, but with gentle guidance and patience, his loyalty and affection blossom. Beau would do best in a calm home with another respectful dog to show him the ropes and keep him company as he truly enjoys the companionship and playtime.
Beau’s not just special because he’s blind, he’s special because he’s Beau: sweet, smart, resilient, and full of life. He’s looking for a person or family who will be his advocate, his cheerleader, and his guide. If you’re ready to welcome an extraordinary soul into your life, Beau’s waiting to meet you. He is open to an adopter, foster, or foster with goal of adoption
The adoption donation is $210 and will include neuter, microchip and vaccines. He will benefit from a family willing to continue his training to boost his confidence. Please follow the link below to submit an application: bit.ly/3GDeyyo
