She enjoys socializing with the other dogs in her current foster home. Her best friend is a German Shepherd, who she was afraid of at first and talking up a storm about it, but once she realized he was no threat, he quickly became her main bestie! She is also used to small dogs and plays well with them. If a dog doesn’t feel like playing, she might persist for a while to convince them otherwise but then give up and go in search of some other adventure. We believe that even though she enjoys being with the other dogs in her foster home, that she would also be fine in a home with no other dogs where all of the fun and attention would be focused on her. She got along great with the resident cat at her previous foster home —starting off a bit timid but quickly warming up once she realized he was playful. Their interactions were always friendly and never aggressive, and Wendi showed great social awareness, knowing when playtime was over. For this reason, we believe she’d do very well with a dog-savvy cat and could likely thrive alongside a more cautious feline too, with some guidance and boundaries. She will at times bark at various sounds but doesn’t go on for long. She happily goes into her crate for mealtimes and when her fosters leave for work or outings. All toys are fun for this pup and she’s not too bad about wanting to chew other things but since she’s still young, she probably shouldn’t have free reign unsupervised. Her potty training has come a long way and she’s good to head out into the backyard, unless it’s raining too hard. Thunder doesn’t seem to bother her! She eagerly sits for treats and could learn so much more! She rides well in the car and would enjoy getting out and about more to continue her socialization skills. She is still at an impressionable age so her forever family will want to keep exposing her to new people and places! She will be game for anything! If you're looking for a pup who's full of love and fun, Wendi is the perfect match! Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history. //

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
