use-trained, attentive, and always aware of what’s going on around her. She has that classic terrier spirit, with intelligence and full of curiosity. Ga-leanda happily follows her foster mom around the house. She plays with a few different types of toys, but the rope toy is her favorite! When she wants to play fetch, she will drop the rope in front of her foster mom and give a little tap just in case mom didn’t see the rope. She happily waits for her foster mom to throw it so she can dash across the room to retrieve it! Ga-leanda gets along well with other dogs and would thrive in a home that appreciates her clever mind and playful heart. She is the perfect blend of lively companion and loyal cuddle buddy with a heart that’s 100% love. Ga-leanda could be an only dog or have another small dog in the home who is under 20lbs. We would like Ga-Leanda's adoptive home to have a nice size yard where she can run around safely supervised off-leash in a space of her own. She enjoys it very much. Since Ga-leanda does love to be right by you, she tends to get underfoot and could easily be a trip hazard. She would not be a good fit for a home with someone with any balance issues. Ga-leanda requires combing and regular grooming and has done well for the groomer. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptionsgmail. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD. The secure fence must be at least 4 feet or higher with gaps no larger than 2.5 inches and attached to the home. An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing), it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business days. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. She had a dental cleaning and necessary extractions. Adoption fee: $500

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
