short stay in a local shelter. Since joining his foster home, Buddy has been blossoming into the sweet, loyal companion he was always meant to be. At first, Buddy was timid around people, other dogs, and even cats—but with time, patience, and love, he’s come out of his shell. He now enjoys gentle play with the dogs, harmless teasing of the cats, and quietly nestling his head in your lap for affection. He sleeps faithfully beside the bed and loves just being near his humans. A former hunting dog, Buddy is happiest outdoors, lying in the grass and watching the world go by. He’s full of energy, enjoys walks and bike rides, and gets the absolute cutest zoomies when he's excited. He’ll chase a ball with delight—though he may not bring it all the way back! He loves his food and has become quite the talker at mealtime. His favorite treats include frozen peanut butter-yogurt goodies and doggy ice cream. Buddy would thrive as the only dog in a home where he can soak up all the attention. He needs an active adopter who’s patient and committed to continuing his leash training—he’s strong, pulls hard, and needs to learn polite walking skills. A secure, 6-foot fenced yard is a must, as Buddy has attempted to dash out the front door and is quite the escape artist when curious. Though he may be wary of strangers at first (and will let you know with a protective bark), once Buddy knows you, he’s all heart. With structure, love, and plenty of outdoor time, Buddy will be the most loyal, sweet-natured companion you could ask for. Ready for a sweet, smart, and active best friend? Buddy’s waiting for you! Fill out an application at: nbran/adopt/adoption-application. Once your application is submitted the coordinator in the State where you reside will follow-up with you. Need to reach your State Coordinator, find their contact information here nbran/about/state-provincial-coordinators. MI/Buddy UP adoption fee is $400 which will help NBRAN cover the vetting costs and other expenses associated vetting and readying our Britts ready for adoption. Don't live in MI or close by? No Problem! NBRAN also has a wonderful transport team willing to help bring Brits to their new family, up to 1400 miles with the adoptive family being responsible for the last 100 miles, at no additional fee. Still have questions? Contact Michigan Coordinators Georgene Norris at georgenenbranyahoo, 248-515-9963 or Diana Anderson at djmf1994gmail, 734-755-2020.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
