ht home for BENNY. Please visit aarf-tn/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply. Meet Benny, a lovable, goofy guy with a heart as big as his smile! This sweet and soulful pup was once a mystery in the woods, spotted for months sitting quietly by the roadside. With a little patience, a lot of heart, and the help of a kind soul, Benny was finally brought to safety—and he’s been an absolute gem ever since. Benny is about 2.5 yrs old, around 50–60 pounds and bears a striking resemblance to the beloved Benji dog, both in looks and charm. He may have started off as shy, but once he realized he was safe, his playful and affectionate personality came shining through. Now, he loves playing with other dogs, soaking up love from his people, and lounging like a porch king in front of the fan. Benny’s got a fun and curious side too—he’s figured out how to hop on the bench to peek through the kitchen window, and he’s even mastered the art of nudging open doors and windows to keep tabs on his humans. While Benny doesn’t show much interest in toys or bones, he makes up for it with his love of companionship and outdoor adventures. He enjoys running and exploring in the woods and thrives in open, natural spaces. He knows how to sit and stay and has done well in a crate the few times he’s been in one. Though he’s been living mostly outdoors, he’s shown signs that he could easily adapt to indoor life with a little training and guidance. He does great with other dogs, and while he’s still working on his confidence in new places, he’s come a long way from the nervous pup hiding in the woods. This resilient, affectionate boy has an endless well of love to give and would make a wonderful companion for someone with a fenced yard, a love of the outdoors, and the time and heart to help him keep blooming. If you're looking for a dog who's loyal, sweet, and full of character—someone who will make you smile every single day—Benny just might be your perfect match. Contact us today! Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: aarf-tn/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: aarf-tn/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) aarf-tn/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
