p;rsquo;s Learning What Love Feels Like Lunar’s story began like so many others — found wandering as a stray in rural Georgia, scared, alone, and running out of time. Thankfully, SNARR stepped in just in time to give this beautiful girl the second chance she deserved. Now, safe and thriving in her foster home, Lunar is blossoming into the happy, affectionate companion she was always meant to be. Blossoming in Foster Care Since leaving the shelter, Lunar — affectionately nicknamed Lulu — has made incredible progress. She’s learned the joy of soft beds (and proudly snoozes in hers now!), discovered how much fun toys can be, and realized that people mean love and belly rubs. She’s learning new things every day — from understanding basic commands to running freely around the yard with her leash in her mouth like a proud little girl. Her foster mom says, “She’s a very good learner… stubborn but doing great so far. I’m so proud of how far she’s come!” Lunar is even learning to ask for what she wants — she gently places her cheek in your hand when she’s ready for pets. Personality: Sweet, Smart & Silly Bright, active, and full of life, Lunar is energetic and playful, but also affectionate and eager to please. She loves people and greets everyone like a long-lost friend. Trips to the park and even busy stores like PetSmart are no problem — she walks in calmly, tail wagging, and soaks up all the attention. She’s gentle and loving — never aggressive — and adores being brushed, often nudging the brush back toward her foster mom when she doesn’t want the session to end. Favorite Things Toys, toys, and more toys! She happily collects them all in her crate, her special “safe place.” Playtime in the yard: Rolling, running, and chasing after rolling balls. Being brushed: She loves spa time and sits patiently while you work through her beautiful coat. Slipper snuggles: After a long day, she’s learning to relax and just enjoy being part of a family, loving to lay by your feet and rest her head on your slippers. Resilient and Adapting Lunar may have partial vision on her right side, and a bit of weakness in her back leg — but she doesn’t let it hold her back! She’s incredibly adaptable, learning special commands like “Careful,” “Steps,” and “Stop” that help her navigate confidently. And we are coordinating with our vet partner to understand her needs. She’s brave, trusting, and remarkably perceptive — always listening for your voice and finding her way through new spaces with growing confidence. Ready for Her Forever Home Lunar is about 2 years old, 60+ lbs, and full of potential. She’s active and intelligent, so she’ll thrive with someone who understands her breed’s energy and loves engaging both her mind and body. Her foster mom sums it up best: “She’s so beautiful, so loving, and getting calmer every day. She just wants to be near her person, play with her toys, and be part of a family.” Could Lunar Be the One for You? Lunar didn’t get to choose her past — but you can give her the future she’s been waiting for. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and smart companion who will fill your home with joy (and a few squeaky toys!), Lunar is your girl. Apply today to meet Lunar and see how much love this special girl has to give. To apply to adopt, fill out an application at snarrnortheast/adopt/ PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR FAQs

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
