eful to be safe and cared for. The shelter has been a little stressful for me, but the kind volunteers are helping me adjust to the routing and settle in by giving me time and space to feel comfortable, which I really appreciate. I was adopted for a few weeks, but it wasn’t a good fit as I was pretty nervous in the home and had challenges with my potty training. I’m looking for a home where I’ll be treated very gently and with a lot of patience, so I can adjust and thrive.
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met some dogs at Mostly Mutts and in my temp. foster home that were my size and though I wasn’t ready to play with them, I also didn’t show any aggression, so if you have a dog already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I met older teens in a temp. foster home that I visited, and I appreciated that they took things slowly with me. I think I’d do best with teens 15+ who know how to respect boundaries, read my signals and give me time to get to know them, so if you have calm teens like this, let’s meet!
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I arrived as a scared and stressed little guy, but with just a bit of patience and kindness, I warm up and become what people call a “sweet lap dog” and a “bite-sized bundle of love.” I thrive on attention and would much rather be cuddling with you than playing with toys. I do have some challenges with leashing and harnessing, so I need a family who can read my signals and give me the time I need to feel comfortable. I might do best with one or two people to start, but who knows — with time, I may enjoy having more friends! I’ve got a bit of a dramatic side and a big voice when I’m scared or unsure, so I’m not really suited for apartment or condo living. I may be small, but I’ve got a big heart just waiting for the right person to help it shine. / My energy level is 4-6.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I have learned the ‘sit’ command so far. I’m sure you can teach me more. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and in a temp. foster home I visited. One of my temp. fosters let me sleep in her bed, and I really enjoyed burrowing under the covers with her. / I've been having accidents on the shelter schedule and some in my temp. foster home and adoptive home, especially when I was scared, so please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule and be gentle with me, so I can master my potty skills. I love treats, so treat rewards could be helpful.
• LIKES/DISLIKES: Once I know you, being with you makes me a happy guy. I love to sit with you, cuddle with you, and spend time together. When I want your attention, I’ll paw at your leg or hop into your lap and lean in close for some love. I also like treats, so let’s have plenty of those, please. If you don’t see me, check the blankets before sitting on them because I love to burrow myself in a blanket and I sure don’t want to get sat on. / I don’t like being leashed around my neck or having hands in my face, so my leashing has been a challenge with some nipping/warnings, and I did get a hand twice. Keeping a slack leash helps and cheese is helpful when working with my harness or leash. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training.
• MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’ve also had a dental cleaning and 4 teeth pulled, so my mouth is fresh and healthy. I have a small patch of fur loss my underside that we think was from untreated fleas and an unhealthy diet.
I am looking for a patient and wonderful family that will love me for life in a great home! My adoption fee is $299.00 and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
