ally in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 06/04/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Raleigh Puppy Mill bust Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Tess is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Tess arrived in rescue from poor conditions. She and all the dogs in the home have been proactively treated for mange. Our best guess is that Tess is a poodle, but she came from a puppy mill where there were also chihuahuas and pomeranians. We cannot guarantee that she is hypoallergenic or that she won't shed. Weight: 10 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes, Tess knows nothing about leashes or leash walking. A fenced yard is for her safety and yours. What kind of home would be best for me? Tess is a young girl with little life experience and a heart that's ready to learn. What Tess does know is that other dogs - they’re the best. She absolutely, positively needs a confident canine mentor in the home—a buddy who can show her that the doorbell isn’t a bomb, that people bring treats (not trouble), and that couches are for snoozing in style. She thrives in the company of kind, steady dogs who don’t mind showing her the ropes, gently and with grace. Tess isn’t ready for the hustle and bustle of soccer games, loud parties, or chaotic schedules. She’s more of a quiet brunch and soft music gal. If you’ve ever dreamed of a purse puppy who just wants to be carried through life with kindness and love—Tess is your girl. What is my personality like? Meet Tess – The Shy Sweetheart in Search of Her Safe Place. Tess is a delicate little poodle mix with the soul of a poet and the heart of a dog who’s still figuring out the world isn’t such a scary place. She’s dainty, sweet, and just trying to find where she fits in this big, noisy world. Let’s be clear - leashes are terrifying. Like, hide-under-the-table scary. Tess isn’t quite sure why the humans keep trying to attach spaghetti strings to her neck, but she’s politely declining for now. For this reason, a fenced-in yard is a must while she builds up her courage and understanding. No judgment—just patience and a secure backyard for her to explore at her own pace. Right now, humans are still a bit suspicious in her book. But every day, she’s learning that hands can be gentle, voices can be soft, and snuggles are actually pretty great. With time, patience, and the right environment, she blossoms into a playful pup who enjoys a good frolic in the yard and a long nap in a warm sunbeam. Tess doesn’t need perfect. She just needs someone who will meet her exactly where she is and walk with her—slowly, kindly, and with another dog by her side. How do I act when I first meet new people? Tess is a shy girl. She won't run up to meet you, but will sit quietly with you. Tess needs someone that will meet her where she is and give her time. Other tips and tidbits: Tess arrived in rescue as part of a puppy mill. We have no records on her. Based on her overall health and condition she has been estimated at under 18 months old by our veterinary partner. We celebrate her birthday 03/05/2024. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
