e-Trained: Almost completely Crate-Trained: Yes – but can be left alone without one Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Best with older/respectful children due to her tiny size Energy Level: Low to moderate Fence Required: No Special Traits: Sweet and affectionate, quiet and curious, tiny but full of love Why You’ll Love Aria: Calm and easygoing – a great companion for peaceful homes Excellent with other pets and gentle with children Very low exercise needs – enjoys a stroll but also loves to lounge Nearly housebroken and crate trained Quiet and observant – only barks when someone walks by Curious and sweet – loves to explore and be close to her people Starting to enjoy toys – a little spark of playfulness coming through! About Aria’s Breed: Miniature Poodles are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and gentle nature. They’re often affectionate with their people and thrive in homes where they can be close to their humans. Aria’s mixed background gives her a wonderfully balanced temperament—she’s smart, loving, and easy to live with. Aria’s Story & Personality: Aria is a sweet, petite lady who’s looking for someone to love. At 7 years old and just 8 pounds, she fits perfectly into any lap and just wants to be near her people. She’s affectionate without being clingy, calm without being dull, and curious without being overly busy. She’s almost fully housebroken and is crate trained, but she does perfectly well left alone without one. Aria is leash trained and enjoys going for walks or poking around outside, but she doesn’t need a lot of activity—just your company and a comfy place to relax. She gets along well with other dogs and cats and has done beautifully with teenagers in her foster home. While she’d likely be fine with younger children, due to her tiny size, we recommend homes with older, respectful kids who understand how delicate she is. She’s just starting to enjoy toys and shows little glimpses of playfulness as she settles in. She’s also a quiet girl, though she may give a polite bark when someone passes by. All in all, Aria is a gentle soul who will make a wonderful addition to a calm, loving home. Aria’s Ideal Home: A calm household with someone who enjoys quiet companionship An adopter who’s home often or wants a sweet, small dog by their side A family with respectful kids or older children Great for apartments or smaller spaces – she doesn’t need a yard Another small, friendly pet would be fine, but not required Ready to Welcome a Gentle Little Lady into Your Life? Aria is the kind of companion who melts into your heart and makes herself right at home. She doesn’t ask for much—just your love, a warm spot to curl up in, and a little patience as she settles into her forever. If you’re looking for a quiet, loving, and loyal friend, Aria may be the perfect match. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. To ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: crisisdogsnc/dog-adoption/. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
