le but is NOT dog friendly. Sassy appreciates store bought tough toys but is just as happy with an old blanket tied in knots. When she gets excited she will put her feet on countertops. Off! is her command to get off where she is not supposed to be. This behavior is avoided if she has something soft in her mouth like an old blanket or soft toy. Without a toy, Sassy will greet people by hugging their legs! After a few minutes of excitement, she settles into a nice walk on a loose leash. She likes to be outside when it’s cool, and at night. Her dark coat gets warm in the sun and makes it hard to see her at night. A near perfect recall during the day is a big contrast to having to track her down and encourage her inside at night. She doesn’t seem to have a strong prey drive, but she does enjoy exploring and finding a cool spot to rest. A single dog home is a must. Sassy likes her food and toys and does not like to share. She will ignore other dogs as long they keep their distance. While on a loose leash she usually will not lunge at passing people or dogs. She is a happy, healthy and active dog that will add joy to her forever family. Sassy is a friendly, playful, affectionate, and smart high energy Frenchie who will need an active family to keep her happy. She loves to run and chase tennis balls till your arm falls off. She doesn't always bring them back but prefers to run around the yard with the ball in her mouth until she decides to release it. Sassy has had some hunt training with an e-collar. A 6 foot PHYSICAL FENCE is an absolute must for Sassy. After she's had her fill of exercise for the day, she does settle down nicely on the couch or anywhere her people are. NO CATS for this girl! Because of her excitement when she greets people, small children could be knocked over, so caution in that area is a must. Sassy is a typical French Brittany with the high energy you would expect from the breed. Sassy is located in northwest Georgia and can be transported up to 1400 miles via our Canine Railroad. Her adoption fee is $400 to offset the cost of vetting and to help other Brittanys in need. Adoption applications can be found on our website at .nbran. Our adoption process requires a phone interview, a home visit, and a veterinary reference. For more information, email brittsnbitsgmail.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
