hat will make her the perfect companion for a family willing to invest the time into a special dog. Her owners made the difficult decision to rehome Daisy, knowing she needed more time than they could provide with a young, growing family. Daisy is currently residing in a volunteer-foster home through Animal Advocates. Daisy is a young adult hound-mix, approximately 55lbs, and is quite athletic for her size, with long legs that give her impressive jumping and agility skills. She has an incredible ability to stand straight up like a person without any support - a talent that never fails to amaze! Daisy might be an excellent candidate for agility training as a hobby, as both a great outlet for her energy and an opportunity to bond with her new family. Daisy's favorite activities include daily walks, rolling on her back in the grass (a simple pleasure that brings her great joy), squeaker toys and belly rubs. When she's happily playing with her toys, Daisy makes adorable little chirping sounds, adding to her unique charm. She enjoys playing with balls and toys, both chasing and tug-of-war, and particularly likes puzzle toys filled with treats. Daisy is an affectionate companion who loves being petted and will politely ask for belly rubs. Daisy is house-trained and crate-trained. She can be trusted alone in the house for several hours, though the crate is her “safe” spot and she comfortably and willingly spends time in it. Daisy knows basic commands, rides comfortably in a car and takes regular, daily walks on a leash for exercise. Daisy displays “friendly over-excitement” with all new things! Daisy can be vocal, jump and pull on the leash, especially when visiting with new people or other dogs, but she is responsive to positive reinforcement and redirection. She's friendly with everyone and loves to play once guests are inside and the interactions with other dogs are positive and monitored. She has not been observed around cats and has been known to chase. Proper introductions with any resident animals, new situations and new people are always a must. We imagine Daisy would be a perfect fit and thrive with an active family (adult-only or with older kids only) who can provide daily exercise and appropriate outlets for her energy. Time spent outside walking, soaking in the fresh air in her own yard, and lots of belly rubs from her people would be Daisy’s ideal. Daisy has shown improvement with consistent, positive training. She would do best with experienced owners who can help her continue this training to improve her leash manners and socialization around other animals. Daisy will surely reward her new family with unwavering loyalty, affection and companionship. Daisy is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, preventatives and tested negative for heartworm. Her most recent exam was in July 2025. She has a record of a continuity of veterinarian care and, as per the vet, is an overall healthy dog. Her date of birth is April 2021. If you are interested in adopting Daisy, the first step is to complete an online application at animaladvocates (under the "Adopt" menu). Please review all adoption guidelines and complete all questions on the application. Thank you for considering a rescue dog from Animal Advocates and helping Daisy find her perfect match! 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
