r life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 06/04/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Raleigh Puppy Mill bust Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Piper is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Piper arrived in rescue from poor conditions. She and all the dogs in the home have been proactively treated for mange. Our best guess is that Piper is a poodle, but she came from a puppy mill where there were also chihuahuas and pomeranians. We cannot guarantee that she is hypoallergenic or that she won't shed. Weight: 7 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No, though Piper knows absolutely nothing about a leash. What kind of home would be best for me? Another dog in the home is non-negotiable. Piper has never known life without the steady rhythm of a packmate’s heart to follow, and she takes her cues from her canine companions. She needs a gentle, confident, kind dog to help her learn what love looks like, what safety feels like, and how to do very basic things—like walk through a door, eat from a bowl, or approach a loving family member. Piper doesn’t know how to be a pet. Not yet. But she wants to. She’s not ready for loud, busy households or overwhelming expectations. What she needs is patience, stability, and love that asks for nothing in return… at least not right away. She’ll need help learning: How to walk on a leash (eventually), How to relax inside a home, That humans can be trusted, That the world is not out to get her. If you are considering adopting Piper - a puppy mill survivor - please read this important article before you submit an application: bestfriends/pet-care-resources/what-expect-when-rescuing-puppy-mill-dog What is my personality like? Meet Piper – A Tender Soul in Search of Her Happily Ever After Like all great love stories, this one will take time. But oh, will it be worth it. Pulled from a life of confinement and neglect, Piper is just starting to peek out from behind the curtain of fear that her past has hung around her. The world is huge, loud, and confusing—but she’s not facing it alone. And she can’t. Piper - is not a fan of leashes. In fact, if you asked her, she’d say leashes are suspicious and entirely unnecessary. If it were up to her, leashes would politely excuse themselves and never return. But as Piper embarks on her new life, she'll need a whole lot of guidance—and yes, eventually, she’ll have to accept the leash (begrudgingly) is part of her transformation from puppy mill survivor to beloved pet. She’s a lot of nervous, yes. But she’s even more love. A whole, overflowing, aching-to-be-free kind of love. It’s tucked away right now, waiting for the right people (and dog friend) to show her that it’s safe to let it out. If you’ve got the heart, the home, and the calm, confident pup to show her the way—Piper is ready to take the first step. Just... maybe not on a leash. Not yet. How do I act when I first meet new people? Piper is shy and unsure. She is gentle and wants to trust, it just takes time. Other tips and tidbits: Piper arrived in rescue as part of a puppy mill. We have no records on her. Based on her overall health and condition she has been estimated at 2 years old old by our veterinary partner. We celebrate her birthday 06/06/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
