They often form deep bonds and thrive in calm, nurturing homes. With their small size and big personalities, they bring a ton of love in a tiny package. Molecule is no exception—he’s sweet, a little shy, and incredibly affectionate once he trusts you. Molecule’s Story & Personality: Molecule is a small guy with a lot of love to give, and he’s still learning how to navigate life in a home. At just 11 lbs and slightly underweight, he’s gaining strength and confidence each day. He’s not fully housebroken yet, but he’s improving quickly and can be left alone without needing to be crated. He does have some food resource guarding, so we are requiring an adult-only home with no children. Molecule also prefers women and is a little hesitant with men—but with slow, positive introductions, he can warm up just fine. He’s good with both cats and dogs and enjoys a peaceful, pet-friendly environment. Though he’s low to moderate in energy, Molecule is incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than snuggling into your lap or relaxing by your side. He’s easygoing overall but needs a gentle, consistent approach to training. He responds well to quiet correction and will do best with someone willing to use clicker training or other soft, positive-reinforcement methods. Loud voices or rough handling are not a match for this sensitive little soul. Molecule’s Ideal Home: A calm, adult-only household Someone experienced with or open to gentle, non-verbal training methods A quiet home where he can build trust slowly Another calm pet would be fine (dog or cat) A snuggly human who appreciates a soft-hearted little companion Someone who understands that trust takes time—but is well worth the wait Ready to Give a Gentle Pup the Soft Landing He Deserves? Molecule is looking for someone to show him the world doesn’t have to be scary—that love can be calm, patient, and full of snuggles. With the right environment, he will thrive and return your kindness with deep loyalty and affection. If you’re looking for a quiet, loving lapdog to share your life with, Molecule might just be the perfect fit. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. To ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: crisisdogsnc/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
