ng but they were looking for shelter. With no cottage in the woods to call home, this golden retriever/collie mix litter followed their mom and had the good fortune of coming into rescue. Their names are familiar as they are named after the seven dwarfs, and their mom was given the name Snow White. Now these pups are singing, Heigh ho, heigh ho it is home from the streets we go. There is no looking back for this group. Dopey is amid the family troop and at 8 weeks old, he has a lot to discover and learn about life. Being a young pup, Dopey will have much fun with playing and being with friends. He enjoys the company of other dogs, children and cats. He is a spirited boy with plenty of puppy energy to explore, play, run, etc. Good times are ahead for him and his family as they watch him grow up and learn to navigate through life with wonderful memories and good times. All of his house, crate and leash training are in progress. It will take baby steps and one day at a time to learn and master his skill set but he is ready to make it to the finish line. As with all puppies, Dopey is full of curiosity and wonderment and is ready to grow from adorable puppy to an amazing dog with the right guidance and patience. He will need a home with someone who has the time, desire and energy to train and socialize him so that he can become the perfect lifelong companion. Bring the love of Dopey into your home and heart. If you are ready to embark on a new adventure and have all the love that Dopey has to give, fill out an application today. * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Dopey is $600. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
