e three sweet brothers have already overcome more in their short lives than most dogs ever will. At just 6 to 8 weeks old, they were brought to Healthy Pets in critical condition, barely hanging on. Someone found them in desperate need and rushed them to the vet for emergency care. Recognizing the severity of the situation, Healthy Pets reached out to Pet Rescue by Judy to ask if we had a dog that could help provide a blood transfusion—and if we could take in and care for these tiny, fragile puppies. Without hesitation, we stepped in. One of our beloved rescue dogs, Mopar, became a true hero by donating his blood to help save all three pups. In honor of Mopar’s lifesaving gift and these boys’ fighting spirit, we named them after iconic muscle cars: Charger, Camaro, and GTO. Thanks to the expert and compassionate care from Dr. Fischer and the incredible team at Healthy Pets, and the collaborative rescue efforts, these puppies were given a second chance. Once stable, they moved into a loving foster home where they could heal, grow strong, and learn what it means to be safe and loved. Today, Charger, Camaro, and GTO are thriving, playful, and full of puppy energy. They’ve come such a long way from their rough beginning, and now they’re ready to find the forever families they truly deserve. Each puppy has a unique personality, but they all share a few things in common: They’re sweet, affectionate, and love human attention They enjoy playing with toys, each other, and other dogs They’re learning good puppy manners and thriving in a home environment These brothers have shown incredible resilience and heart, and they deserve homes where they will continue to be cherished and cared for—just like they were during their recovery. After everything they’ve overcome, Charger, Camaro, and GTO are ready to write their next chapter—with you. Could one of these brave little brothers be the perfect addition to your family? Important Information for New Puppy Parents Welcoming a new puppy into your home is an exciting and rewarding experience—but it also comes with important responsibilities. To help your puppy grow into a happy, confident, and well-adjusted adult dog, dedication to obedience training, socialization, and consistent potty training is essential. We strongly recommend that the entire family participates in puppy training classes. This not only helps build a strong bond with your new pup but also ensures that everyone is using the same commands and techniques, creating a clear and consistent environment for learning. **Puppies thrive with structure, patience, and positive reinforcement—and so do their families! Let’s set them up for a lifetime of love and success.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
