A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Date into Rescue: 07/13/2025
Reason for being in rescue: Mickey was found as a stray in GA and landed at a shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Mickey is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 07/23/25 he had a dental. Mickey has mature cataracts in both eyes. At 12 years old, we have elected not to put him through surgery for this.

What kind of home would be best for me? Mickey gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats, but he would also be perfectly content as your one-and-only furry friend. He’s still active for his age and enjoys leisurely walks a couple of times a day, where he can sniff the breeze and take in the world at his own pace.
This charming boy's life as a stray as left a lot of our knowledge about him up to guess work, but with all of his tricks and his aptitude to please we are certain he will learn anything in a heartbeat. What we do know is that he’s ready for his forever home, one where he will be showered with the love, care, and companionship he’s been dreaming of.
What is my personality like? Mickey – The Gentleman of the Golden Years! At 12 years young, Mickey is living proof that age is just a number. This spry little Mini Poodle still has plenty of pep in his step, a wag in his tail, and a twinkle in his eye that says he’s ready for love, companionship, and just a touch of adventure.
Mickey is, quite simply, one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. He adores people and is happiest when he’s right next to you, soaking up your attention. He isn’t demanding—just quietly hopeful that your hand might find its way to his head for some gentle pets or that you might invite him to curl up beside you on the couch. He’s a dog who loves love, and he gives it back tenfold.
On top of being a complete sweetheart, Mickey is also a little gentleman with some impressive manners. He knows how to sit, shake, and even dance (and yes, it’s as adorable as it sounds). Offer him a tasty treat—his favorite currency—or, if he’s feeling sneaky, a nibble of the cat’s food, and he’ll be absolutely delighted.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who wants nothing more than to be near you, Mickey is ready to dance his way straight into your heart.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Mickey will waltz into a room and into your heart. He's living proof that age is just a number!
Other tips and tidbits: Mickey was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 12 years old. We celebrate his birthday 07/13/2013.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
