A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Reason for being in rescue: Surrendered by breeder - a puppy that didn't sell

Weight: 38 lbs and growing - we expect Zorro will be between 45-55 lbs when full grown
Height: 22 in and growing - we expect Zorro will be 24 inches when full grown

Fence needed? Yes, Zorro requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller.
What kind of home would be best for me? Being only 8 months old, Zorro is still very much a puppy—which means he loves playtime! Whether it’s romping with another dog, tossing toys around, or running in the yard, play is his favorite way to learn and build confidence. With that puppy energy also comes the need for training. Like any young pup, Zorro will need guidance with basic manners, leash skills, and house rules. Luckily, he’s smart, eager, and ready to learn, especially when you make it fun.
One thing Zorro must have in his forever home is a doggy brother or sister. Other dogs are his comfort, his teachers, and his joy. They help him find his courage, show him the ropes, and coax him into play. He may never be the leader of the pack, but he has the heart of a fighter—resilient, loyal, and ready to blossom with the right family by his side.
What is my personality like? Every hero has an origin story, and Zorro the chocolate Standard Poodle puppy is ready to write his next chapter—this time, with you. Zorro started life a little differently than most. He was the puppy that didn’t sell, and while some might see that as unfortunate, it turned into his greatest blessing. His breeder, a kind soul who realized it was time to close the chapter on breeding, chose instead to give Zorro the gift of a brighter future by placing him in rescue. That decision opened the door for him to finally discover what it truly means to be loved.
At first, Zorro can be a little timid, unsure of what’s to come. But it doesn’t take much to melt his hesitation—a gentle hand, a bowl of food, and a few tasty treats, and suddenly his tail begins to wag, his eyes soften, and his sweet personality shines through. Once he trusts, he gives his whole heart, ready to follow you wherever life may lead.
Zorro is searching for a family with patience, kindness, and love to spare. In return, he’ll give you his quiet strength, his joyful play, his gentle devotion, and the gift of watching a once-shy puppy grow into the brave and beautiful dog he was always meant to be.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Zorro can be a little tentative when he first meets you, but give him time and trets and he'll show you that true standard poodle personality!

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
