nd especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 6/24/2022 Reason for being in rescue: Charlotte was found as a stray in a small neighborhood near Charlotte NC. The finder posted her on Next Door and several people reached out stating they knew Charlotte and her owner and that Charlotte had been getting a bath and managed to sneak out of the yard. But....despite repeated attempts to reach the people who reportedly owned her, no one has come forward. We contacted the registered owner of Charlotte's microchip next. It is a rescue in Charlotte. They believe they paid for her spay and microchip through a community outreach program but could not locate records to tell us more. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted. Please note that Charlotte appears spayed but we do not have documentation on this. Based on the looks of her abdomen we believe she is spayed. Charlotte had awful skin when she came to us but clean conditions, an indoor living environment, a good diet and regular baths have cleared her skin quite a bit. Weight: 49 lbs Height: 20 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Charlotte needs a home with a fenced in yard so she can enjoy the enjoy the fresh air. While Charlotte is not a high energy gal, she does love to go on long strolls with her person. She needs someone willing to grab their walking shoes, and go exploring with her daily. She can be dog selective. There is no rhyme or reason to her selection process either, so being the only dog is ideal. What is my personality like? Charlotte is a strong, independent lady! She enjoys going for walks, but likes to be the one who is guiding you instead of the other way around. She goes where her nose takes her, which can lead to some interesting adventures. She could benefit from obedience training to let her know who is really "the boss." She will try to convince you to keep walking when she knows it's almost over with her big, sad, puppy dog eyes. She may forgive you for ending the walk, if you let her sunbathe afterwards. This girl would stay outside all day sniffing and enjoying the scenery if you let her have her way. Charlotte loves food and people, so obviously her favorite person is the food fairy in her life! She loves her people and will shower them with affection as long as you will let her. She is a happy go lucky girl that would make a wonderful best friend! How do I act when I first meet new people? Charlotte is a people "person" if we ever saw one. She will lean into anyone just to get a pet or two. Other tips and tidbits: Charlotte was found as a stray so we have no history on her. We celebrate her birthday as Feb 14, 2016. We came up with this date because the only known date is when she was spayed and microchipped in February of 2018. We're assuming she was a young adult when this was done so gave her an age of 2 years old at that time. She acts and looks about like a mature dog of 6 years old but please note this is just a guess. Charlotte knows the commands Sit, Down, and Paw. She can pull some on a leash so a harness is suggested. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
