pecially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Dallas has never known life as a pet. She spent the first 4 years of her life in a breeding facility, a lifestyle that is very different from being a companion. Everything - and we mean everything - is new to her. Dallas is not for an inexperienced dog owner. She needs experience, patience, routine and consistency. Above all, she needs time. Time to trust. Time to learn. Time to grow. With the rescue, Dallas has already started showing her true self - a sweet, affectionate little girl who craves attention and would happily spend all day cuddled up in her human’s arms. One thing Dallas must have is another small dog in the home. She leans on her doggy friends for confidence and security, and they help her feel safe as she continues to learn what life as a beloved pet is all about. A calm, friendly companion will be her anchor as she continues this journey. If you are considering adopting Dallas - a retired breeder dog - please read this important article before you submit an application: bestfriends/pet-care-resources/what-expect-when-rescuing-puppy-mill-dog What is my personality like? Meet Dallas – A Little Yorkie With a Big Heart! Dallas is a petite little Yorkie with an equally delicate heart, looking for the one thing she’s never truly had before - a family to love her. For the first part of her life, Dallas lived outside as a breeder dog, never knowing the comfort of a soft bed, the safety of a home, or the love of gentle hands. Those days are behind her now, but adjusting to this brand-new life indoors will take time, patience, and compassion. Since everything about being a house dog is brand new to Dallas, training will be an important part of her future. With patience, kindness, and consistency, she will learn the ropes of indoor living and what it means to be truly cherished. Dallas has come so far already, and with the right home filled with love and a canine friend by her side, she’s sure to flourish into the devoted little lap dog she was always meant to be. How do I act when I first meet new people? At first, Dallas can be shy and timid — the world is still so new and a little overwhelming for her. But with a few soft words and gentle pets, she begins to blossom. Slowly, she’ll crawl her way over to you, as if testing the waters of love, and then she melts right into your lap as though that’s where she was always meant to be. Other tips and tidbits: Dallas's birthday is 3/28/21 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
