ently available to states North of Virginia up the coast. He’s a sweet, goofy Cattle Dog/Pit Bull mix, about 2 years old, with the perfect mix of smarts, drive, and personality to be a fantastic sport partner and adventure buddy! He has been gentle with all the peoples and loves a good cuddle! Vibe is NOT a couch potato and would thrive in an active home with experienced owners. This 2-year-old cattle dog/pit bull mix might not be winning any spelling bees, but he’ll win your heart in a second. He’s the definition of a good boy. eager to please, gentle with people, and always ready to try his best. He’s happiest chasing discs or making a splash in the dock diving pool, where his goofy grin really shines. While he’s down for a day of adventure, he’s made it clear that the full-time travel life isn’t for him - he’s a homebody at heart. One important note: he absolutely cannot be around cats. It’s just not in his playbook. Looking for a loyal companion with a big heart, a bigger splash, and a few extra brain cells to spare? This sweet boy’s your guy. Pros • High toy drive and food drive — he’s motivated by just about anything! • Very biddable and eager to please, with an adorable personality that wins everyone over. • Gets along well with most dogs and has excellent recall, even around big distractions. • Athletic, springy, and always ready for action. Cons • Will resource guard food and toys from other dogs • Has some issues with a whippet mix intact male, but otherwise does great with all other dogs. • Absolutely cannot be in a home with cats. Skills he knows (He works beautifully and best for food rewards) • Sit, Down, Wait, Come, Place, Kennel, Through, Dog Catch, almost has Rebounds, Spin, Twist. Disc skills • Flip (both sides), Through Flip (both sides), Dog Catch with a disc. • Still working on vaults — he’ll vault off a platform perfectly, but is hesitant with body vaults. • Beautiful overs, currently still takes, and can go over a jump for training. Other sports • Has dock diving experience — confidently jumps off the ramp and adores the water. • Can high jump up to 44” with very minimal training. Contact waterdingoes25gmail. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
