ature is a thin white line running from his temple down to his nose, neatly separating the left and right sides of his face. Personality & Temperament: Bet It All is part of a litter of three, including two female littermates. He is a sweetheart—affectionate, loves giving kisses, enjoys being held, and likes following the group. He is not shy and thrives on companionship. Likes: Bet It All is very social and plays well with other dogs, including the household Australian Shepherd. He enjoys exploring, spending time outside in the yard, and playing games like soccer and tug-of-war. His favorite toy is a soccer ball with ribbons attached, which he loves to grab and wrestle with during playtime. Energy Level: BetItAll has a playful and engaging energy. While he isn’t the most hyper puppy, he enjoys bouncing around and interacting with his sister Bling, which helps him stay active and engaged. His confident and social nature allows him to play comfortably with other dogs, making him a fun and interactive companion. He balances his playful moments with calm periods, making him adaptable to a variety of household settings. Interactions: With People: Bet It All has been exposed to children aged 8–15, as well as adults and unfamiliar people, and he thrives in these interactions. He is sweet, affectionate, and confident around new people. With Other Pets: He has been around other dogs and is very open, social, and curious, enjoying interactions and learning from his surroundings. Home & History: Bet It All has been on a routine for eating and going outside to use the bathroom, and he’s been introduced to potty training both outdoors and with wee-wee pads. He is beginning to understand crate training—though he’s mostly been with his littermates, he has had some alone time and is learning that the crate is a safe space. Like any young puppy, he may be upset at first when separated from his siblings, but this is normal adjustment behavior. He has not been leash-trained yet but has been well-socialized with other dogs in the household. One especially endearing trait is that he will sit patiently and wait while his food is being prepared, even without formal training. Ideal Home: BetItAll would thrive in a home with an active family who enjoys spending time outdoors. Since he loves being outside, he would benefit most from a household that has a yard, takes regular walks, or engages in activities like hiking or playtime in the park. A family that can match his need for fresh air and outdoor fun, while also giving him the love and attention he deserves, would be ideal.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
