toys, zoomies, and especially other dogs. In his foster home, he’s completely smitten with the puppies, he plays so gently and happily with them that we can’t help but think he’d be wonderful with kids too. Calvin has bursts of energy followed by long stretches of relaxing, so he’ll happily join in on playtime and then snuggle up for a nap. He will do best with a canine buddy to romp around with.
This handsome boy is crate trained and does well in the car. He is mostly potty trained but will need a patient family to help him settle into a good routine. When he first arrived, he marked quite a bit, but with consistency (and a belly band at first!) he has been improving quickly. Calvin is still learning the rules of the house and will blossom with some training and guidance. Like many little dogs, he can be a bit vocal, he’ll let you know when someone’s at the door, when other dogs are barking, or when he first goes into his crate. He usually settles down and naps, but because of this, he’s probably not the best fit for an apartment or shared-wall living.
Calvin is also on the skinny side right now, so he’s looking forward to being spoiled with love, snacks, and good meals to help him fill out. With consistency, affection, and a playful buddy, Calvin will make an incredibly loyal, joyful companion. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate pup who just needs a little polish to shine, Calvin might be your perfect match!
Calvin is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 9/6/2025 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 4:30pm and 8pm. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care.
