ayful, and affectionate companion? Meet Buck—a fun-loving 4-year-old Beagle who’s equal parts goofball and cuddle bug! Buck is the kind of dog who will keep you entertained with his toy-chasing antics and tug-of-war skills, then curl up next to you like the lap dog he secretly is. Buck’s Favorite Things:Chasing toys and pouncing with joyChewing on Kongs or a good bonePlaying tug-of-war like a champSnuggling up after a fun-filled dayBuck is housebroken, crate trained, and sleeps peacefully through the night in his crate with his bed, food, and water nearby. He feels most secure in his crate when left home alone and does well with that routine. While Buck hasn’t lived with other pets or small children, he loves all people and would thrive in a home with older kids (10+) who can match his energy and respect his space. He hasn’t had issues with kids but would do best with those old enough to understand boundaries. Buck is best suited for a home where he’s the only dog, as he hasn’t always gotten along with unfamiliar pups. He enjoys car rides and is always up for an adventure—just be prepared for a little leash pulling; he’s still perfecting his walking skills! ?? Buck Would Love:A dog-free homeA family who enjoys playtime and snugglesDaily exercise and fun mental stimulationA secure crate for comfort when aloneIf you're looking for a spirited, loving pup who’ll be your loyal shadow and keep your life full of play and affection, Buck is your guy! Apply to meet Buck today and see how quickly he’ll steal your heart! ???? If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog's better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes: - initial canine distemper combination vaccination - first worming or stool check - rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age) - 24 Petwatch microchipping - flea treatment/preventative - spaying or neutering -heartworm testing Adoption fee: $135.00 Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
