ife and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 5/20/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray about 1/2 mile from our rescue and brought in by a concerned citizen who could not leave the tiny pup on the side of the road Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Sage is up to date on vaccines for her age. She is scheduled for spay the first week of September and will be available after that date. Sage was hairless as a puppy, a victim of demodex mange most likely caused by stress of a difficult start in life. She looks amazing now, sleek and beautiful. Weight: 30 lbs Height: 21 in Spayed/Neutered: Spay is not spayed. This is planned for early September. She will be spayed prior to adoption. Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? Yes, Sage requires a physically fenced in yard of 4 feet or higher. What kind of home would be best for me? Sage is looking for a home who is looking for that special someone who stands out over all the rest. This is what she is practicing to be - the dog you never forget. While with us, Sage has grown into a truly special dog—equal parts wild child and cuddle bug. With structure, patience, and a sense of humor, she’s going to be someone’s heart dog. Sage must have a playful, high-energy dog buddy in her new home. Her current besties are a standard poodle and another pit bull mix, and she thrives with that level of energy and interaction. Her next door neighbor best friend is a cav-a-poo the same age as she is and they are partners in crime and mischief. She’ll absolutely need a friend to wrestle with, nap next to, and learn from. What is my personality like? Sage is a young American Pit Bull mixed with just a dash of brat. She’s a mischievous pup with a sparkle in her eye and a plan in her heart—usually involving something she shouldn’t be chewing. Sage was originally found as a stray; a passerby noticed a clearly neglected puppy on the side of the road. Like any good human would, they stopped. Sage hopped right into the car, thrilled to be rescued. This kind lady drove half a mile down the road and found herself at the poodle farm. She stopped and knocked and the rest is history. Sage stayed with us. When she arrived, Sage was in rough shape—covered in sores and missing over 75% of her fur. She was pitiful, but a vet visit revealed the culprit: demodex mange, a non-contagious skin condition caused by microscopic mites that live in hair follicles. It’s often the result of an immature immune system, especially in young dogs. The good news - it’s very treatable, and Sage has recovered completely. Her beautiful black coat now shines nicely with health and vitality. She’s finally feeling like the playful pup she was meant to be. Let’s talk personality. Sage is confident, chaotic, and proud of it. Every paper towel she shreds is an artistic expression—and she’ll absolutely look you in the eye to ask if you’re proud of her masterpiece. Sage is one of those dogs who will always keep herself entertained, she's frequently seen chasing her own tail, throwing the toys for herself, and bribing her foster siblings into a game of wrestling. She’s all things puppy: curious, energetic, and in need of clear boundaries and structure. Sage is all about water, this girl loves to roll all around in the creeks. She splashes in and out and encourages her foster siblings to do the same. Sage is a water dog at heart and requests that her family take her out to splash in the water often. Sage is smart, but she needs guidance. Her new home should be committed to consistent, positive reinforcement training. Short sessions that reward good choices with treats and praise will help her blossom. She thrives on routine, so regular schedules for meals, walks, and playtime will make her feel secure. Mental stimulation is just as important—puzzle toys, sniffy games, and teaching her new tricks will go a long way in keeping her out of trouble (or at least some of it). Socialization is key at this stage in her life, and she’ll need help gaining confidence with new sights, sounds, and people in a positive, slow-paced way. While Sage is all things chaos, she's also all things sweet and cuddly. Sage loves to sleep in bed cuddled up with her foster mom. She loves to snuggle with her canine siblings; she loves to have a friend. Sage loves to watch television with her neighbors (yes, Sage frequently visits the neighbors, she's a popular girl) Sage is ready to sneak into your life and be the best pup you have ever met! How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly, Sage never meets a stranger! Other tips and tidbits: Based on teeth and body development, Sage was estimated at 5 months old when she arrived in rescue. We celebrate her birthday January 20, 2025! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
