Foster Home Feedback 9/24/25 Volunteer Feedback: I have absolutely fallen in love with beautiful Bazinga and being retired, I have been able to take her on many outings away from shelter living. Bazinga is comfortable in a car and quickly learned to wait patiently as I make stops delivering meals. Afterwards we headed to a park for a long and leisurely walk. She has no stranger danger or fear of baby buggies or bikes. She also enjoys coming over to my fenced yard for relaxed playtime. With the weather so beautiful I decided to head to our lake cabin to see how she is in a home setting. I am happy to tell you she was pretty near perfect. Here are my observations from the last 10 days of time spent with her: —Bazinga is totally house/potty trained. She is quiet and remains on the floor unless I invite her up on the dog couch. She only put her paws on the counter once. —Very soft mouth and gently plays with all kinds of toys. Loves chewing on a real bone. —Slept quietly in a kennel at night and also stayed quietly in there when I was out of sight. —Walks great loose leash or at heel. Is interested in wildlife but not obsessed. As three big gray squirrels chased each other around a tree not ten feet away, she sat quietly and just watched them. —Bazinga craves and gives much calm love and affection without being annoyed. She amuses herself and doesn’t bug me to play when I am busy and ignoring her…just lays down and relaxes. She is very submissive and rolls over, inviting belly scratches. She took gentle voice corrections submissively and obeyed. —Bazinga is so quiet. Seriously, I have not heard her bark even once while with me in the car, on walks, in my backyard or at the lake cabin. No whining either! —Bazinga is stunning with a longer, shiny black coat with white highlights. Her tail is shorter and has a slight kink. She is a wonderful medium size at 50 pounds. She is maybe a couple of pounds overweight (we have that in common)! —When pulled from an area pound Bazinga initially tested as dog friendly but has shown leash reactiveness towards other dogs on two occasions away from the shelter. She is not reactive to seeing dogs while in a car or towards other dogs in their kennels at the shelter. So, we will be working on this. It is my hope once she gets a foster or adopter and is away from the stress of shelter living, she will be comfortable being with other dogs. —Bazinga has the most amazing eye contact with me…her beautiful brown eyes absolutely melt my heart! 9/2/25 Volunteer Feedback: Bazinga is a sweet girl whose contagious smile will brighten your day. When she first arrived at 4 Luv of Dog Rescue, she wasn’t quite sure how to walk on a leash, but with a little patience and practice, she now walks nicely. This social pup thrives on connection and loves being around people. Bazinga brings warmth and joy to every moment! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: .4luvofdog

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
