ituations, and unfamiliar people and dogs cause anxiety for timid Gizmo. When she is stressed and can't hide in a quiet room, she will manifest her anxiety by standing her ground and barking loudly. She is very wary of strangers at first, but with patience and treats, she'll soon warm up and then become great friends and want to play and snuggle. Young children, however, make her particularly nervous, probably intensified by some toddler grabbiness in her past, and she can't be trusted to react appropriately. Although she has lived peacefully with other dogs in the past, she has also had multiple incidents of altercations with other dogs, and it's clear that she would prefer to not have to share her home with other pets. In a calm, predictable, adults-only home without other animals, Gizmo will show off her true self: wonderfully playful, relatively independent, and a warm snuggler. She loves chasing a Frisbee around the yard and will play fetch with small toys indoors. When she gets excited, she also loves tug-of-war, doing rat runs, and being chased around by her trusted person. At walk time she gets super energized, which does tend to make her very vocal and pull too much on leash, but within a couple of minutes she settles down and becomes more manageable. Gizmo is reliably house-trained and crate trained (in her crate she is quiet and calm), and she has a nice repertoire of known cues, such as sit, off, leave it, come, go to bed (crate), and bang. Her silliest trick is that she will hide un der a pillow when you say "Kevin's here," and she will surely love to learn other stunts you may teach her.
