s equal parts sass and snuggle. She’ll zoom around the room like she’s chasing invisible sparkles, then curl up in your lap like she’s been there forever. She’s playful, curious, and has a mischievous streak that’ll keep you laughing—especially when she tries to “talk” you into one more treat. Pikachu is living with another scruffy terrier mix and the two get along well. They go on city walks together. They sunbath side-by-side and they rush to down the stairs to potty every morning. She loves squeaky toys and is learning her basic commands like a champ. She knows sit and most of the time, she knows stay. Pikachu does have room for improvement on her leash manners. She is reactive to other dogs and of course, those pesky bikes and scooters can cause her to bark. Pikachu and her foster mom have been working hard on this behavior and even attended training thanks to our friends at Bernal Beast. Pikachu is fantastic when off-leash at the dog park! She gets along with the other dogs in the park. While at the dog park, Pikachu runs, plays, and explores ever corner of the dog park. Pikachu takes all of 3 to 4 minutes to warm up to new people, but she is aloof those short moments and then it is almost like she's known you forever. Pikachu does like both men and women. Pikachu has traveled on public transit and was the perfect rider. She behaved like a champ, and she loves car rides. Pikachu is an excellent eater and being treat motivated will help her new person (s) train her and to manage her leash manners. She has stayed home with the other scruffy terrier mix when foster mom is out and about and there has been no separation anxiety. Do know if your dog barks, little Pikachu will join the chorus but normally she is not the one that starts the barking. Whether you’re a seasoned trainer or just starting your journey, Pikachu is ready to be your loyal sidekick. Catch her while you can—this little spark is pure magic. Pikachu is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She's been doing fabulous on housetraining. She is on a strict routine and has not had an accident in weeks. Adoptions are in the SF Bay Area. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Pikachu is $300. If you are interested in adopting Pikachu, please complete our online adoption application at .gratefuldogsrescue/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. See our other available dogs at .gratefuldogsrescue/available-dogs/

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
