Magenta | 1 y.o. Blue Lacy Mix | Professional Cuddle Bug in Training
Meet Magenta, a sweet and snuggly 1-year-old Blue Lacy mix weighing about 62 pounds. With her sleek dark grey coat sprinkled with white spots and her puppy-dog eyes, she’s as beautiful as she is affectionate.
Magenta is still young and learning, but she’s already making great progress. She’s nearly house trained, signals when she needs to go out by whining or standing at the door, and is crate trained—happily settling in for naps or sleeping through the night without fuss. On leash, she’s very curious and loves to stop and smell all the smells. She’s still working on loose leash walking and not pulling, and while she’s not always thrilled about long walks yet, she shines in free play and loves to romp, chew toys, splash in water, and wrestle with other pups.
Full of puppy energy, Magenta is always up for a game of fetch with tennis balls or a round of tug-of-war with her squeaky toys. She’s also practicing her obedience skills and is working on “down” and “stay” to add to her list of tricks (she already knows “come,” “sit,” and “off”). After getting her fun in, she’s quick to wind down—curling up in her bed for a snooze or snuggling up with her people on the couch for some relaxing downtime.
Like many young dogs, Magenta still has a few quirks—she sometimes wants to chase after bikers or motorcycles—but she responds well to gentle boundaries and consistent training, and she’s eager to please, especially when treats or love are involved. Some of her endearing habits include hiding her toys, resting her head sweetly on her people, and showing off her playful puppy grin.
Magenta is easygoing with dogs of all kinds and would likely thrive in a home with another pup to play with, though she’d also do well soaking up the attention as someone’s one and only. She hasn’t met cats or kids yet, but her friendly and loving nature suggests she’ll warm up quickly.
Her ideal home is one where she can enjoy bursts of playtime in the yard or with canine friends, then flop down for long snuggles with her people. She’s not a high-energy dog and wouldn’t suit someone looking for a marathon running buddy—she’s more of a “frolic then flop” type.
Magenta was found as a stray, but you’d never know it from her happy spirit. Despite her rough start and a skin condition she had at the shelter (now healed into a shiny, gorgeous coat), she’s proven to be resilient, affectionate, and ready to love her forever family with all her heart.
If you’re looking for a loyal, goofy, and cuddly companion who will bring joy to your days and warmth to your couch, Magenta is ready to meet you.
