me and now I’m safe and sound while I search for my forever family. I’m excited to meet the people who will love me, give me lots of attention, and let me enjoy life the way a Beagle should — with plenty of sniffs, fun, and love! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a cute little Beagle with a sweet and gentle nature. I can be a bit shy and cautious at first, so I appreciate when people talk softly and go slowly with me — it helps me feel safe and comfortable. Once I know you, my friendly side shines through, and you’ll see just how sweet I really am. With a little patience and kindness, I’ll make a wonderful and loving companion. / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and look forward to learning a lot with my trainer! Check back soon to see what I've learned. / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts. / My potty manners have been good on the shelter schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I’m still figuring out what my favorite things are, but so far, I know I enjoy sniffing around and taking in all the interesting scents. Since I’m shy and sweet, I’m sure as I settle in, we’ll discover lots more things I like together. / I wouldn’t want to be rushed into new situations, etc. so let’s take our time. I can’t think of any other dislikes yet, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. My front teeth are ground down and canines chipped a bit, but they don’t bother me. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, but don’t require a dental cleaning at this time, but my new family should consult with their vet in the near future to see if I need a dental. I came in with a flea allergy, so please keep me on flea prevention. I’m looking for a wonderful family to love and be loved by. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
