he grew up fully integrated into a pack with two other dogs and enjoyed doggy friends outside the home as well.
After her family relocated to another state, some tension developed between Maddie and one of her packmates, a young, high-energy Lab. They had a few spats, but when a trainer was brought in, no serious or concerning behaviors were observed. Still, with her family now fostering very young children, they are worried about managing the dogs together. Maddie never had issues with the other resident dog, but as the youngest and last pup brought into the family, she is the one losing her home.
Maddie’s family describes her as a smart, loving, and fun dog who enjoys both play and relaxation. She’s active and thrives with daily exercise, but she also loves curling up for movie night on the couch or a lazy weekend morning in bed. Her favorite things include belly rubs, walks around the neighborhood, and especially playing fetch. She’s happiest chasing after a ball (or two at once!) and often keeps one nearby, even when napping.
Maddie is currently being fostered in NC with a mom, dad, and two young children (ages 2 and 5), living as an only dog. She’s been especially sweet with the 5-year-old, who knows how to be gentle with her. The foster home is active with regular visitors, and while Maddie can be shy at first, she warms up and is a friendly pup. Sometimes her excitement shows with a happy jump to greet guests, but she’s working on it and making progress with her manners.
Overall, Maddie has excellent house skills. She is fully house-trained and crate-trained, though her foster family rarely uses the crate. She walks great on leash, doesn’t pull, and is calm when passing other dogs. She’s the kind of pup you can take to your kid’s soccer game, out for a walk in town, or even to a brewery. She’s also a big fan of water and has been kayaking, and loves both swimming and boat rides.
One special thing her prior family shared is that Maddie is a sensitive soul, very attuned to the emotions of her humans. If you’re upset, she’ll cuddle close and even try to lick away your tears. She enjoys short snuggles but is happiest simply being near her people, whether that’s on the couch or stretched out on the floor by your side.
Maddie is a sweet girl who deserves a true forever home. She is ready to bring love, fun, and loyalty to her forever family. Could that be you?
