Ohio County—we’ve got a girl who could pass for one! Jesse has the look and the personality of a true hound.
Polish Hounds are known for being smart, loyal, and affectionate with their families. They’ve got that signature deep hound bark, a curious nose that loves to explore, and plenty of playful energy. Jesse checks a lot of those boxes!
She’s under a year old, which makes this the perfect age to start her training and give her the foundation she needs. Jesse came to us after outgrowing her previous family’s expectations. Sadly, it’s a story we hear often—larger dogs can be harder to place, but that doesn’t make them any less deserving.
We’re glad she’s here now, because this is the best time to help her transition into her forever home before she officially grows into adulthood. Jesse is ready to shine for the right family who will love her for the big, beautiful girl she’s becoming.
What to expect from a classic scent hound…
• Temperament: Loyal, gentle, and affectionate with their families. They tend to bond strongly and enjoy being part of daily life. (This Is why now Is thr time for Jesse to find her human.)
• Energy Level: Moderate to high. They need regular exercise, both physical and mental, to stay happy — walks, playtime, and scent games are perfect. (Jesse jumps at first, but once she’s allowed to get her energy out, she calms right down.)
• Nose-Driven: Like many hounds, they love to follow scents. This makes them adventurous but also means they should always be in a secure yard or on a leash. (Jesse already does pretty good on the leash.)
• Trainability: Intelligent but independent. They respond well to consistent, positive training but may show a stubborn streak. (Jesse Is young snd seems eager to please.)
• With Kids and Pets: Typically good with children and other dogs if socialized early. Their gentle nature makes them good family companions. (Jesse loves kids.)
• Size: Medium to large, sturdy, and athletic — they need space to move comfortably. (Jesse still may grow more, so definitely large.)

We are a super small, no kill rescue that is operating way above our capacity. We have taken in over 600 animals in 2024, and we desperately need good adopters, fosters, and sponsors to keep the doors open.
We operate solely on donations, and we are always looking for wonderful families to join our efforts. We have dozens of felines not posted and dozens more on our waiting list. No matter what type of setting you have, if you are looking to save a feline, we can find one for you to help. It typically it cost us $60-80 to fully vet a feline and $80-120 to vet a canine depending on size and health conditions and sex.
