o trade his past life for a future full of cuddles and love! He came into our care after his previous owner sought out assistance with finding him and his littermates new forever homes. Right now, it's George's time to shine as we begin searching for the loving family he deserves. We don't call George a "gentle giant" for nothing. This sweet, Great Pyrenees/Saint Bernard boy is an absolute sweetheart who thrives on attention. George's favorite place to be is right by your side, and he'll often just plop down at your feet, gazing up with adoring eyes, hoping for a scratch behind the ears. If you're looking for a dog that will be your loveable, loyal shadow, George may be your man. George has spent the recent part of his life living outside and, well, he hasn't exactly been shy about enjoying a good roll in the dirt! He's currently in need of a thorough grooming and clean-up, including a much-needed bath. Don't worry—he'll be getting the spa treatment with a good cleanse and a brushing before he heads off to his new home. Because George is transitioning from an outdoor life and a change in his environment, his new family will need to commit to providing a stable, consistent environment to help him succeed. He is actively working on the fundamentals and is looking for a home that can offer patience and persistence. He will need a dedicated routine to continue working on his house training. Accidents are part of the learning process, so a family ready to be patient and persistent with positive reinforcement will be key. A structured daily schedule will also help him quickly master his leash manners and basic obedience. **George has been brought up-to-date on his vaccinations and heartworm bloodwork testing, but is awaiting his neuter surgery. This will take place within the next couple of weeks, so we are estimating him to be ready for adoption around 10/17/25. Ready to open your heart and home to this sweet giant? If you think George is the perfect addition to your family and you are ready to provide the structure and love he needs, we encourage you to apply to meet him! Please complete and submit an adoption application found on our website, .wesavepets.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
