Description

Jack-A-Bee Dogs For Adoption in Springdale, PA, USA

Dog Breed: Jack Russell Terrier / Beagle / Mixed. Hi I'm Fannie and I'm fabulous! My foster mom calls me Fannie Mae because plain Fannie isn't enough. Anyway, she said the reas

on she had to have me was because I had "the most beautiful face" she had ever seen. She also said that I had "very expressive eyes". I have a brown spot right on the top of my head in the white. I am mostly white on my body but I have black spots on my belly like a dalmation. I also have small light brown spots over my body. I am a 1 1/2 year old Jack Russell Terrier mix but I think I may have some Beagle in me too. I am spayed, house trained and crate trained. I sleep all night in my crate but I can easily jump on your bed or your couch. I weigh around 33 pounds and I LOVE to eat! My foster mom says I have a "voracious" appetite. She gets upset with me if I eat my step-brother's food so I guess you need to feed me separately if I am going to have a fur brother or sister, I am not food aggressive but I will sneak the other dog's food. I eat twice a day and am very regular with my bowels. I poop every morning as soon as I get up. I am not cat or kid tested and am a little skittish when I meet new people. I want to play all the time but I need tough toys and chew bones. I get along with other dogs. I am very inquisitive and will bark to alert you to anything going on outside. Speaking of, I LOVE being outside and I do very well riding in the car, In fact, my foster mom says you don't even know I'm back there. I am able to jump in and out of her car. I love attention and being rubbed and patted. I am a very loving, happy dog and I wag my tail a lot. I also love to give kisses. I am working on being more of a lady walking on a leash. I get so excited that I tend to pull too hard. I would love to have a fenced in yard but if you don't have one, that's okay too. I just want to find my furever home! 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
